Beautiful. Must stop if close by. They have a $5.00 one hour deal when we were there. We did that. If you don't hike around, you can drive to all areas including beach, take pictures and leave in one hour. Stop at observatory last if time so you manage the hour. If you are hiking or interested in observatory pay for longer time.
We stayed in the group camping tent area, and found the park to be very well maintained, beautiful and we'll definitely come back again. The hikes along the bluffs offer spectacular views over the Mississippi and Wisconsin rivers. The RV camping area has clean, modern showers and toilets. The kids enjoyed the play ground and I enjoyed being out of cell phone contact.
This is a beautiful state park. We camped in the Homestead campground and the sites are very wooded giving you some privacy from the neighboring sites. The main bathrooms and shower in Homestead are under construction, which is the only reason for only giving 4 stars. There are still plenty of pit toilets nearby and the shower/washrooms in the Ridge campsites is one of the nicest camp showers I have seen, it is just a bit far from the Homestead sites. There are plenty of hiking trails to see with beautiful scenery and canoe/kayak rental on site. We will definitely be coming back.
Can't say enough about this lovely park. Awesome views everywhere you go! Clean bathrooms with plenty of stalls. Shower rooms also plentiful. Hiking is gorgeous. Some trails are tough. Really nice playground. No beach, but there is a public beach on the Mississippi just 3 miles from the park.
Lovely state park on the Mississippi. Hiking trails are well marked and maintained. Covered picnic areas. We were day visitors but I did look at a few camp sites and they are spacious and well shaded. Really nice state park.
